1) When you see something that you think a friend would like, and it's cheap, get it for them! They'll be really happy about the thought and you'll only be out a couple bucks.
2) After the holidays when the candy is on sale, buy a bag and take it to your favorite shop for the employees and customers. (I also do this on Valentine's Day, because my true love is books and while they can't eat chocolate the people who sell them can.)
3) Write letters. Write to your family and friends. Write fan mail to your favorite author or celebrity. Write a "thank you" card to a company that publishes your favorite book series. There's something about paper mail that warms the heart more than email can.
4) Give blood. It's not much fun, but it helps people.
5) Take a page from Diane Duane's Wizardry series philosophy and imagine that we notice problems because we're able to help with them. "You found it, you fix it." Of course we can't fix everything but imagining that the gods have set things up as challenges to each of us specifically… I don't know. It makes me try harder.
6) Carry a leash and dog treats in your car in case you see a loose dog in a dog-dangerous place. Then you can try to catch it and return it to its owner. But don't approach a dog that seems aggressive; keep your skin whole for future adventures!
7) Remember retail jobs can resemble the underworld, complete with wraiths and walking skeletons trying to suck your life energy. Smile and be polite; don't be a wraith.
8) Learn to express yourself with discretion; say, "That's not my kind of thing" instead of, "That sucks!" and, "I disagree, and here's why…" instead of "You're wrong!" or worse, "You're lying!" When you disagree with someone, try to think logically about the reasons and express that clearly and without spite.
9) Make an effort to type with correct punctuation and spelling. This spares many people headaches, and will help you win respect.
10) Remember that sometimes the best way to help someone is to stop helping and let the results of their actions hit like a ton of bricks. That may be the only way to help a person learn, even if they don't like you much afterwards.
1. Listen~ It's a horrible feeling to think that people don't care about what you're saying. Show people that their opinions matter.
2. Speak~ If no one says anything for what is good or against what is wrong, nothing will ever change for the better.
3. Stand~ Back your words with actions, or they're just complaints.
4. Persevere~ There's no use in wasting your time on something that you don't have the will to finish.
5. Appreciate~ There's so much that's beautiful in this world; it'd be a shame to live a whole life without noticing it.
6. Guard~ Not only others, but yourself. Darkness creeps in when the light is pointed the other way.
7. Accept~ Change what you can, but don't kill yourself over the things you can't. Though often it's difficult to tell the difference, life is much less stressful if you try to take things in stride.
8. Respect~ People are much more willing to listen and take your advice if you treat them with respect. All may not respect you in return, but the ones who do will be truer friends.
9. Forgive~ If you taste something bitter, then you spit it out. So why should it be any different with bitter emotions? Yes, the things that people do to you can hurt...a lot. But resentment certainly doesn't make you feel any better.
10. Love~ To love and be loved is one of the greatest gifts given to humankind- so give and receive it.
1) Help some one in need. You may find yourself in a similar situation someday and wish there was someone to help.
2) Think before you act (or don't act). It's often better to limit the regret in your life and hindsight is 20/20.
3) Go a little out of your way, like holding the door open for someone. It's surprising what a difference something small can make.
4) Remember to be courteous and polite to others. Many people seem to have forgotten this.
5) Brighten somebody's day, whether it be with a smile, wave, or other friendly gesture. This may seem cliche, but it still rings true.
6) Learn something new about someone. Let them know you care by taking an interest in their lives.
7) Be trustworthy. Don't make promises you can't keep or break those that you do.
8) Treat others with the respect you wish to be treated with. Refrain from making judgments about others.
9) Go the extra mile. If someone asks you to go one, why not go two?
10) Be an example for others to live by.

1) Smile at people, even if you don't know them
2) Thank people for everything, even if they are just doing their jobs

10) Tell someone you love them and mean it.
1. Picking up stray garbage on the side of the road when I go walking.
2. Calling a friend who lives far away and lives alone to tell her I am thinking of her, and remind her she is loved.
3. Finding the good in people who are brash and irritating to me at work, and focusing on that spark of goodness while talking with them. Often these are the lonely and angry people who just want to be understood - taking that extra time and smiling really works wonders.
4. Warning people who come to me for tattoos of names of "the curse" that comes along with it, and helping them to find an image that might suit their desire better than a written tattoo. If they still insist on getting a name, then doing it to the best of my ability - they'll wear it for life!
5. Picking up small gifts that friends and family would really love when I come across them, like a small werewolf figurine for my coworker that I knew he'd really dig, and giving it the very next day instead of waiting for a holiday.
6. Realizing that spending time talking, playing and generally enjoying my boyfriend's company (and anyone else's as well), is much more fun for both of us than watching TV shows we don't care about. Taking the time to really be with people instead of sitting near them and doing something else.
7. Making the time to be there for the really important events in a person's life who you care about. Even if it's incovenient to me, it's well worth a long drive to make it for a birthday party, or make it to a graduation ceremony - these things only come once, and mean a lot to the people who earned it!
8. Always being the one to do the dishes, and never complaining.
9. Offering to stay late at work to help clean the office downstairs, or do whatever needs to be done so that my boss can spend a little more time with his new sons.
10. Not spreading gossip, no matter how tempting. And when speaking about others, to try and focus on the good side of whatever is going on. This isn't to say to lie or gloss over bad events, but to not focus on the negative in interacting with others.
